Near the end of the game, a timer runs down as you make your way through some final corridors, at the last door, you find yourself in a room for a faceoff against the final enemy: Big Boss! He talks to you prior to the final fight...

When you finish him off, the timer is still going, so you must take the left door for getting out in time, the others lead nowhere. You should be able to make it out in time if you beat Big Boss by 0700...

After you escape, the buildings explode, with Snake safe and out of the island...

Snake makes his escape and mission completion known on the transceiver...

The transceiver changes frequency to radio news...

The only thing left is the message from "your computer" giving you the credits.
